Meet Christy! (she/her)
Christy is the creative business owner and founder of Makit Takit, a drop-in craft studio in Lincoln, Nebraska. A true boss, Christy enjoys the strategic business planning as much as making things. This has lead to her expanding her business to include a mobile pop-up splatter unit, a yearly maker market, business mentoring/retreats, and a grown-up craft camp called Makit Together. She loves to travel and go to therapy.
Meet Mollie! (she/her)
Born in Wyoming and raised in Nebraska, Mollie is a Midwesterner through and through. She’s happiest when she’s outside—gardening, boating, camping, or just soaking up the sunshine. Her hobbies range from ceramics and creating to foosball, yard games, and car shows. She also has a deep love for planning (yes, spreadsheets count as a hobby), a competitive Scrabble streak, and proudly wears the title of dog mom. Mollie is all about making the most of every moment, bringing energy, joy, and curiosity to everything she does.
Meet Samantha! (she/her)
Samantha Sharp is a self-taught artist whose creative journey began in childhood with pencil and oil pastels. Driven by relentless curiosity, she has since explored a variety of mediums, many of which somehow lead back to her primary craft: henna. Since 2011, she has honed her henna artistry professionally, weaving together her love of tradition, intricate detail, and organic forms with her enthusiasm for glitter, neon colors and bold fashion aesthetics.
Meet Wendy! (she/her)
Wendy Townley is a Nebraska native with a background in journalism and a passion for creativity and connecting with others. Her career began with a love for words and storytelling, but life took an unexpected turn when she discovered the world of crafting.
Her crafting journey deepened when she discovered card making and various forms of die cutting. Embracing new techniques and expanding her collection of tools and materials, Wendy honed her unique style – a playful mix of patterns, textures, and vibrant colors.
Meet Laney! (she/her)
Hand embroidery artist Laney Boyd first took up needle and thread in October 2020 and has yet to put them down again. With a background in music, she infuses precision, harmony, and elegance of form – qualities honed through years of classical training – into her embroidery work. Laney's unique approach to hand-stitching combines traditional embroidery techniques with modern, minimalist presentation, creating eye-catching pieces that explore the depths of form and composition achievable in hand embroidery. She sells original patterns and custom commissioned art pieces through her (very) small business, thistles & thread, and loves teaching others about the mental health benefits of stabbing a needle through fabric over and over again. Laney currently resides in Lincoln, Nebraska with her supremely left-brained husband and their two semi-feral children.
Meet Lynette! (she/her)
Teaching Preschoolers to adults for over 38 years has brought Lynette a breath of insight into creating art and the art of teaching visual arts. Lynette’s preferred mediums are jewelry making, metalsmithing, painting, drawing, sculpture, and pottery.
Exhibiting regionally, Lynette currently has works in five galleries and has showcased her work in numerous galleries and exhibits throughout Nebraska over the past 17 years. Lynette’s community involvement includes teaching private art lessons and visual art for Lincoln Public Schools, teaching art classes in many venues, selling work online, serving on the board of the Nebraska Art Teachers Association, LUX Center for the Arts Education Committee, and in the past was curriculum facilitator for Sheldon Museum of Art Statewide Exhibit, MONA’s Permanent Collection Curriculum Development, and teacher of Bright Lights Learning Enrichment Program.
Meet Lesley! (she/her)
Lesley is a professional folk arts instructor, custom natural dye artist, and natural dye supplier.
Lesley Darling's passion for fiber and folk life has led her back in time and across the globe: from turning tree sap into printed dyes in India; learning a dying language from elders in Sweden while spinning and weaving; to incorporating traditional beading with contemporary pageantry. Lesley focuses on the importance of traditional community structures in textile and craft, including use of local resources, skill specialization and sharing, and the sense of place we achieve through our material culture.
Meet Darla! (she/her)
Darla, also known as Makit Mom, is a retired IT professional from Oklahoma who has never met a craft and crafter she did not like. Her enthusiasm for metalsmithing copper jewelry is now a daily fixture in her life. You can find your new favorite copper jewelry in Oklahoma and Nebraska. Darla would love a unique piece of Makit Mom wearable art to go home with you.
Meet Autumn! (she/her)
Autumn Langemeier is a historian by day and a crafty nerd by night. She began sewing at age 8, making clothes for her dolls and playing with scraps from her aunt's sewing room. In high school she became interested in garment sewing (first for cosplay and then for everyday) and hasn't been without at least one working sewing machine for almost 20 years now. As a historian, her interests include women's history, material culture, textiles, and domestic labor. Autumn is a proud Queer Sewist and especially loves finding patterns and companies that have inclusive sizing options and beginner-friendly sewing projects. She dabbles in many types of fiber arts including knitting, Tunisian crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, spinning (drop-spindle and working on wheel spinning) and needle punch. She also enjoys trading card games, manga, jewelry making, painting, ceramics, photography, zine making, and miniature making. Her best life is lived when she has her craft project, her cat Alistair, a book, and a cup of tea. She loves to talk about Queer culture, fashion subcultures, Japanese pop-culture, expansive history, and cooking. She describes her making style as chaotic but approachable.
Meet Iris! (she/he/they)
Iris is a little bit of everything: a sprinkle of performance art, a dash of fabrication, a cup of cosplay, and a mountain of magical drawings.
They are the Studio Manager of Makit Takit in Lincoln, Nebraska, a Teaching Artist with the Calibraska Arts Institute, and the designer behind Slay Castle Creations. Iris loves all things sewing, puppetry, DIY, and imaginative making, and can't wait to meet you and create something out of this world together!
Meet Holly! (she/her)
Holly has been an educator in a variety of settings. She has been a public school art teacher, a volunteer instructor, workshop facilitator, and currently teaches pottery to adults or helps people find their next favorite craft. Her focus remains providing creative experiences to anyone interested in making.

Meet Kashoan! (she/her)
I’m Kashoan, the founder of Stuff Creative Reuse, a nonprofit creative reuse store in Lincoln, Nebraska. I’ve always loved making things, finding new uses for old things, and bringing creative people together. I started Stuff because I wanted to create a place where creativity, sustainability, and community could all come together. These days, I’m usually somewhere between the donation room and craft shelves.
